Admission

  • By downloading the application from the website or picking one up in person from the office, interested candidates can reserve their seats.
  • If you are eligible, you can reserve a spot by sending a reservation fee of Rs. 5,000 by check payable to the "International Maritime Academy Trust'' payable in Chennai. (Before reserving your seat, please check your eyesight.) An immediate reservation receipt will be sent. The Academy has informed you that you must pay the balance course fee.
  • The completed application form and reservation fee may also be sent by those awaiting their (10+2) or HSC results (Seat Reservation Receipt will be sent immediately).
  • The students who booked their seats should report to the IMA- Administrative office with the original mark sheets and passing certificates of 10th and 12th grades, as well as two passport-sized photographs. (Students will be informed of the reporting date.)
  • Students may complete their medical examination with any DGs-approved physician.
  • Students who have verified their eligibility and are in good health should pay the remaining course fees prior to the start of the course.

Navigating Office Team:

Those that are in charge of the ship's navigation, the loading and unloading of cargo, radio transmission, and crew and passenger control and safety. The master, who determines the course of the journey and controls the vessel, is the ship's chief navigator. He has complete authority over the ship's officers, crew, and passengers. A person who has the necessary sea time and passes additional exams from the trainee apprentice level will be elevated to captain of the ship. Job profiles are;

Engineer Officers Team:

The main engine, boilers, pumps, hydraulic fuel systems, the ship's electrical generating plant, and the distribution system are all completely under the control of the ship's engineers. With sufficient sea time and additional testing, one can advance from the position of trainee engineering officer to that of ship's chief engineer.

Crew team

The GP crew is involved in a variety of daily tasks to support the Chief Officers on the Deck or the Second Engineer on the Engine side. With the right tests and sea time, one can advance from a GP crew position to a Captain or Chief Engineer level. The catering staff will handle the cooking and food preparation tasks. For many different types of vessels, there is a great need for specialised fitters and welders.

Marine Engineer

The student is qualified to be appointed as a Junior Engineer on Merchant Ships after finally passing the four-year Marine Engineering course and a four-Modular course. The Engineer becomes a Chief Engineer of a ship within 6 to 7 years after completing the required time on ships and passing the competency examination held by the Directorate General of Shipping, Government of India, or Marine Administration of other governments. The academy provides the successful, meritorious students with the essential placement guidance.

  • After four years, enrol in the marine engineering programme as the fifth engineer.
  • Promoted to fourth and third engineers after completing six months of sea service and passing the MEO Class IV Exam.
  • Promoted to second engineer after completing a year of sea service and passing the MEO Class II Exam.
  • If you have more sea time and pass the MEO Class I exam, you can be promoted to chief engineer.

Master Mariner:
The cadets will join the ship as Trainee Cadet Officers once the course is finished. They must gain a year's worth of sea experience. After completing a year at sea, they will be promoted immediately to the rank of SECOND OFFICER without having to take any additional tests. They will be promoted to Chief Officer and then take over command of the ship after more sea time and exams. The candidates who complete this course will be prepared to command a ship. Master mariner is another term for a ship's captain. Candidates are qualified to join ships as Deck Cadets after successfully completing this pre-sea training. Regular campus interviews for job placement are held at our Academy by the top international shipping companies.

The Merchant Navy primarily handles maritime cargo and passenger transportation on occasion. Its fleets are divided into several categories, including passenger ships, cargo liners, tankers, bulk carriers, car carriers, containers, and other specialised types of vessels. The merchant navy, which transports cargo around the world for import and export business, is the foundation of global trade. The following category is primarily represented by career options in the merchant navy:

These jobs are available through contracts with shipping companies, which last between 6 and 9 months. Scholarship Selection Process:

Candidates need to join the college before applying for the scholarship, Once the admission is over then need to apply with the admin officer. Candidate’s parent annual income should not exceed Rs.4,50,000 and also should have good marks in 12th standard.
